About student finance

Student Finance England will provide you with a maintenance loan (if you are single up to £13000 if you are in London, or up to £10000 if you are outside London) for day-to-day living costs and a tuition fee (£9250) loan to pay the university (if you are eligible)
The maintenance loan will be paid directly into your bank account in three instalments at the start of each term and can be spent for your personal needs
The loan amount will depend on your living circumstances and household income, which you can work out before receiving.
This money you repay after the course is finished and only if you earn more than £25000 per year. If you don't earn, you don't repay
If you earn more than £25000, you only repay 9% of any income which is above it. You pay in small instalments directly from the wages,
like an extra tax.

If you have already graduated from a university in England and obtained a Bachelor's degree, you have two options:
  • The first option is to apply for a Master's degree. In this case, the student only receives a maintenance loan, which will need to coverthe course fees
  • The second option is to apply for a second degree, where the studies are 6 years part-time, 2 days a week, 3 hours per day, with one day being online
If you are receiving Universal Credit and apply for a Maintenance Loan, be prepared for one of three scenarios:
  • Universal Credit may reduce a portion of the amount you are currently receiving
  • Student Finance England (SFE) could provide less than the expected amount for your personal expenses
  • Universal Credit may maintain the same amount as previously, while SFE approves the maximum loan amount
If you wish to retain your Universal Credit payments, you can apply only for Tuition Fees (this will be paid directly to the university)
If you studied for one year but left university for any reason, with diploma or not, we still can help you:
  • If you have already studied for 4 years, received Student Finance, and obtained a Bachelor's degree, you can apply for either a Master's degree or a second degree
  • If you have studied for 3 years, received finance, and do not have any diploma in this case, we are unable to assist
  • If you have studied for 2 years, have a Level 5 diploma, and you received a student loan, we can offer a TOP-UP COURSE
In the overview of each course, you will find details about the study mode, the number of days per week, the hours, and the locations of the campuses
