When it comes to student finance, funding for a Master’s degree is quite different from that for an undergraduate degree.
For undergraduate degrees, students typically receive separate funding for tuition fees and a maintenance loan to cover living costs. However, for Master’s degrees, you will only receive a single loan.
This loan is intended to cover both your tuition fees and living expenses, so you’ll need to manage it carefully.
You may be able to get a postgraduate student loan from Student Finance England of up to £12,858 to help pay for a Master’s degree. The amount depends on when your course starts.
The money is paid directly to you and can be used for both tuition fees and living costs.
You will only start repaying the loan once your income is over £21,000 per year. You will repay 6% of your income above this threshold.
Payments are divided across your course and paid in three instalments each academic year.
